Demografics are there to tell us Welltower will do good. Let’s face, life is longer, young people hav to stuggle, old people have it all.

That’s why I just bought Welltower Inc. (HCN). Add to that an healthy Forward Annual Dividend Yield of 4.47%
Price is reasonable: Forward P/E 1 16.24
Some growth is supposed to happen:
Quarterly Revenue Growth (yoy) 12.40%
Warning bells are mainly connected to current earnings slowdown:
Trailing P/E 41.49
Quarterly Earnings Growth (yoy) -35.60% (more…)

I am a silver miner today!

I am a silver miner today

  • Silver could be a safe haven in case of disasters.
  • Silver besides being a precious metal, is very much needed by industry (so I read somewhere).
  • Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) is World’s second Silver producer/miner, and I can’t figure out which is the first.
  • 3% dividend yield is something I like very much, specially considiring that Payout ratio is  an honest 30%
  • Forward P/E ( Dec 31, 2014): 10.01 seems cheap enough to me, although current P/E = 30 is quite high. (more…)

I ended up choosing  Swiss company  Syngenta AG (SYT) over US Monsanto (Mon)

less controversial, equally agriculture multinational

I just bought 5  SVJ at EUR  187.35 each, spending a total amount of  EUR 936.75.0
I think this agriculture company may be a good defensive stock. After all people eat bread even during economic turmoil times.
I chose Syngenta over Monsanto for several reasons: (more…)

Monsanto (MON) a stock I always wanted is now affordable. But is it ethical? Is it better than its less expensive competitor Syngenta (SYT)? May 5, 2010

Monsanto is most famous (or infamous depending on the point of view) multinational linked to agriculture.

Genetically modified by Monsanto

They produce seeds, GMO seeds, fertilizers and herbicides. A couple of years ago Monsanto did really well as price of food had gone up sharply.

As world population grows and developing countries become richer, more and more food needs to be produced.

No doubt Monsanto is well placed to profit of such trends.

Price for MON shares is reasonable, if one looks at Forward P/E= 16. Less so if one looks at current P/E=25

Price on Sales = 3 is a bit high.

It was a good idea to buy shares of this gold miner. In September 2009, I wanted to play defensive seeing the beginning of the recession.

My choice was quite good. Barrick Gold stock price went up immediately and stayed up during the crisis. I must remember about Barrick or similar companies whenever I fear a crisis may be on sight.

Gold can be a safe heaven for investors
Gold can be a safe heaven for investors

In September 2009, I bought 40 ABX shares on Xetra Market spending EUR 23.34 each, for a total amount of EUR 933.6 .

Today I sold 30 Barrick Gold share at EUR 32.68 making a EUR 980.4. I got all my money back, made EUR 50 cash. Now I own 10 free Barrick Gold shares. Thanks to my my dear FREE STOCKS STRATEGY !

Does this Adaptec controller suck?

Thanks Warren Buffet! Today my $2,849 came back home from their 8 months trip to conquer me free stocks.

My “Free stock of the month” is Warren Buffet’s famous Berkshire Hathawy.

All you etwhen you buy BRK - B shares

On July 15  I had bought 1 BRK-B share at 2,849. After a while Buffet decided to split it into 50 shares.

Tody I hit my target:  BRK-B shares are 40% up since July 15

Today I sold 36 BRK-B shares at $79,91 each. Total amount cashed: 2876.76

My thinking back in July was correct: Berkshire made plenty of money lending cash at huge  interest rate to large banks right before the government stepped in to bail them out. Those bonds are even convertible. Should bank shares recover, Buffets bet would yield tenfolds.

5 Reasons why I am buying convertible ETF SPDR Barclays Capital Convertible Bond ETF (CWB) February 3, 2010

Convertible Bonds are great

Convertible Bonds are Bonds that take advantage of stock performance

1) Convertible Bonds seem great:

  • they guarantee returns like Bonds,
  • they also offer opportunity to take advantage of stock market growth
  • they should be quite safe, because at the end of their lifetime they can give the capital back if stockprice is below convert price

2) SPDR Barclays Capital Convertible Bond ETF (CWB) offers a nice yield:  it pays  monthly $0.072 which makes  yearly $0.864 representing 2.3% of its $37 current price.

3) Expenses for this ETF are 0.4%, which  is not too much, even though usually ETF charge less

4) CWB is defensive as compared to stocks. It tracks the S&P 500 but with less volatility and with much less downswing

5) last but not least, CWB is the only ETF for  convertible Bonds, so I don’t have much choice.

Hate Ketchup, but love Heinz’s fat dividends! I’m buying 23 HNZ shares in 5 minutes December 29, 2009

Heinz yields 3.9 % dividends. I can hardly resist such juicy dividends, considering that, according to Yahoo finance:

  1. HNZ has a honest 16 P/E ratio.
  2. HNZ is supposed to grow its earnings. Next year P/E is supposed to go to 14. (more…)

I bought 7 CEO CNOOC shares, late, hopefully not too late… October 13, 2009

I wanted to buy the Chinese offshore oil company CNOOC in March .I  should have because CEO shares are 40% up now. Actually anybody should have bought about anything in March… markets are 60% higher!

Today I spent $1,028.37 to get 7 CEO shares ($146.13 each). If I had bought them in March I’d have 10 in my portfolio and some extra cash.

I chose this offshore oil company for several reasons:

1) China’s Economy is great. Not even the great recession could stop it.

2) Such liquidity may spur inflation. Oil is a commodity and it works as protection against inflation

3) Chinese car sales are up 80% from last year. I’m afraid there isn’t enough oil for all the World. Prices will go up.
